VASCULAR SURGERY
Dr Avinash KM is a dual trained Neurosurgeon( Microvascular Neurosurgery and Endovascular Neurosurgery). There are very few handful of neurosurgeons who are dual trained.
Dual training means Neurosurgeon is capable of treating vascular conditions of the brain ( Cerebrovascular conditions of the brain) and spinal cord both by standard operations and by minimally invasive endovascular techniques. The advantage of this is that there is no bias in selecting optimum treatment options for a vascular disease. The unbiased selection of treatment helps in giving the best chance of cure with maximum safety to the patient.
A untrained Neurosurgeon/Neurologist or neuroradiologist is always a disadvantage as they cannot give comprehensive care and there will often be shifting of responsibility from one doctor to other doctor and there may be difference of opinions.
Being dual trained Neurosurgeon Dr Avinash has an edge of giving unbiased treatment options and a comprehensive care to the patient without need to shift the care from one doctor to another. Since not all vascular conditions of the brain can be treated by microvascular means alone or endovascular alone means, appropriate selection of cases is the crucial point. Better selection of case results in better care and better outcome.
Brain Aneurysm Coiling and Clipping
Dr Avinash has advanced training in both coiling and Clipping of the aneurysm. Very few Neurosurgeons in the world have training in both the techniques. He is also trained in advanced brain bypass surgeries for complex/ recurrant/ giant aneurysms.Since he is trained in both modalities of aneurysm treatment he gives unbiased treatment option.
Brain AVM Treatment-Embolization and Surgery
Treatment of AVM comprises of either surgical excision of endovascular embolization. In some complex cases combined approach is applied to cure the AVM. Some small AVMs in deep location of brain may be cured by Radiosurgery.
Carotid stenosis treatment-Endarterectomy and Stenting
Dr Avinash KM is trained in performing both carotid endarterectomy as well as Carotid stenting. Both form of treatments are offered by Dr Avinash.KM.

Hemifacial pain is one of the worst types of pains. Its also called suicidal pain. Surgical Microvascular decompression of the nerve will give immediate relief to the pain for a long period of time.
Giant Aneurysms and Brain bypass Surgeries
Some large giant aneurysms may need special techniques like stent assisted coiling/ flow diverters/ and few may not be amenable to any form of endovascular treatment. they may be amenable to surgery like bypass surgeries/ complex reconstruction techniques.Dr Avinash is trained in all forms of treatment for complex brain aneurysms.
