WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Recurrant Brain tumour surgery

My story is not that simple. in 2010, i was diagnosed with a recurrent meningioma…..an aggressive WHO Type II Benign tumor, it was located on the right side of my brain hence affecting the mechanics on my left side and inducing violent seizure episodes. We do not know what causes it, The only way to treat it because of the size was to have an extraction, Craniotomy (invasive/open brain surgery)…..

we did this at Nbi Hospital and i thought that was the end of it. Six months after recovery, i was back to work….two months later , i was diagnosed with a recurrence…..Fast forward to now, and three invasive surgeries later, a Pulmonary Embolism and two non invasive surgeries in 5 years, im completing my treatment and heading home next week. Ill be fighting fit, and though recovering, i cant wait to get back to work & finish what’s left of my Masters Programme.
Let me just clear the air on one more thing before i proceed with today’s agenda (To Say Thank You To Everybody)…….
Why do i choose to go public with my struggle? It’s simply because i can help someone who needs, hope, encouragement and to know that they do not walk alone. The numerous messages, visits, phone calls and conversations with people who have drawn strength from my crucibles is enough testament to me that i am impacting somebody”s life positively somewhere…..So i will continue to encourage where & when i can
secondly, Everything i share and have done comes from a deep conviction within that i can do all things through Christ & Christ alone who strengthens me. i give all glory to Him for not just everything ive gone through but that He has given me the strength and grace to go through it.
His word promises me that “there is no test that is not common to man, but that God is faithful, He will not allow me to go through anything i can not handle”.
Without preaching too much i want to give thanks to many many people who’ve stood with me over the last five years and supported my family and i through prayer, and in every other way. May God Bless you all! i may not remember everybody but you are all in my thoughts & gratitude. Here’s to the rest of you who have made a difference in our lives.

Acoustic schwannoma Surgery

“Our full family would like to thank Dr.Avinash for taking very good care of my mother Mrs.Janaki. She was suffering from Acoustic Schwannoma for close to five years. During this term, she had constant episodes of vomit and headache. Dr Avinash was prompt enough to diagnose this overnight. Mom was operated by Dr. Avinash on 23-August-2013. We were very nervous as she had extreme vomitting prior to surgery for continuous one week.

Dr.Avinash gave us confidence of her well being post surgery. He explained us clearly on the disease and the treatment procedure. Google scared me on the risks involved in Craniectomy procedure. I always felt free to ask questions and gain confidence in return. The doctor’s confidence supported us morally. She had a speedy recovery with minimal medicines and was on her feet within two weeks from the date of surgery. She resumed her job on 1-Jan-2014 and is doing perfectly fine now. I give Dr.Avinash and Columbia Asia Hospital two thumbs up!”

Brain Aneurysm– Giant Aneurysm

It was in mid of June 2014, I suddenly experienced severe headache and neck pain. Then my family member consulted Neuro Physician and number of examinations was conducted the outcome was suffering from brain aneurysm.
We approached Dr. Avinash who is a well known and experienced neuro surgeon, and he has explained how the aneurysm

accurse and informed about the different type of surgery and post surgery reparation and effects. Hence we opted the modern way of surgery called “coiling of aneurysm”
The surgery was successful and I felt I was in safe hands, me and my family members felt happy with service and approach from Dr. Avinash.
I would like to recommend Dr. Avinash to people who are in need and he is an expert neuro surgeon.

Brain Aneurysm Coiling-Patient from Ghana

I am Ms. Doris Yaa Osei, a 43 year old Research Scientist with the Animal Research Institute, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Ghana. On 29th July, 2013 I felt an excruciating pain in the left side of my head, and seconds later the pain had radiated to the back of my neck. All of a sudden my neck became stiff and I felt dizzy. My condition was diagnosed as a subarachnoid hemorrhage due to ruptured-leakage of intracranial aneurysm on 11th September, 2013.

In view of the high morbidity and mortality associated with subarachnoid hemorrhage and the lack of necessary facilities for local treatment, the neurosurgeon recommended an urgent out of country treatment. After an extensive search for an appropriate neurosurgeon, the Ghana Health Service, on the recommendations of my neurosurgeon and a medical board comprising neurosurgeons, approved of intervention to be undertaken by Dr. K.M. Avinash, an Interventional Neurosurgeon.
On the 9th February, 2014, I successfully had a balloon assisted coiling of the aneurysm at the Columbia Asia Referral Hospital in Bangalore, India under the care of Dr. K.M. Avinash. I wish to recommend Dr. Avinash for the high professionalism exhibited pre, during and post intervention that has resulted in my survival. Dr. Victor Smart-Abbey, a senior neurosurgeon and the other doctors who attended to me in Ghana are also pleased and satisfied with the intervention undertaken by Dr. Avinash.
